What is Psychotherapy?

Life can be challenging.

Psychotherapy and counselling give you the tools to help face these challenges and the opportunity to develop self understanding.

The focus of therapy will be different for every person, but is often centred on unraveling problems, gaining new perspectives and building resilience for dealing with life’s struggles.

Therapy offers you a safe place to discuss your feelings, worries, and emotions. It is a space just for you, an environment where you will not be judged and where you can be authentically yourself in the presence of a supportive other.

Psychotherapy and counselling are closely linked, however counselling will often focus on the problems and parts of ourselves that we are already aware of. Psychotherapy will go deeper, uncovering things that may be hidden to us or that we are not consciously aware of.

Often we feel like our problems are not worthy of needing this type of support. We believe that psychotherapy and counselling are for people with serious mental health issues or that other people’s problems are more important.

This is simply not true, in today’s demanding and chaotic world, we all have times of suffering. Getting support for our mental health should be seen as a sign of strength. Therapy can have a powerful impact on many aspects of our lives.

My goal is to demystify and normalise psychotherapy so that people feel worthy and deserving of the kind of support that can positively impact every aspect of their life, whatever their journey.

Hello, I’m Roxane Mullen.

I am a Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapist with a Master's Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I'm a pre-accredited associate member of the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP).

I believe that we all have the capacity to change and grow, and that psychotherapy and counselling can support you on this path. It’s important that you find a therapist who you can trust, who offers compassion and empathy. If you choose to work with me, I will commit to meeting you where you are without judgement, and will offer you a safe space to explore your world and what’s troubling you.
