Why it’s important to choose an accredited Psychotherapist

I’m a fully accredited Psychotherapist with @iahip (the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy). This is something that I am incredibly proud of and that took me four years, and a Masters Degree to achieve. I think it’s fair to say that there are a lot of voices in the world of wellness, but by working with a sufficiently trained and accredited therapist, you are putting yourself in the safest hands.

The accreditation process with IAHIP is HARD. One of the toughest to achieve in Ireland…and rightly so.

It means we therapists are strictly regulated & made to jump through plenty of hoops to ensure we’re fit for the work. I think the more rigorous the accreditation process, the better for the profession of Psychotherapy & Counselling…and ultimately the client.

So having worked in the profession for over 6 years, sat with clients for thousands of hours, having had 120+ personal hours of personal therapy myself, and thousands of study & supervision hours, I know that I am an expert in this field.

🧐Remember, when you choose an accredited therapist you’re ensuring that;

🌿your therapist has sufficient training, skills & expertise which will ultimately support you in the work.

🌿your therapist has had plenty of their own personal therapy, attends regular supervision, and is committed to continuous professional development.

🌿your therapist is bound by the codes & ethics of their accrediting body which protect both therapist & client.
